Show OND MOAR* DIES IN TIENTSIN News of the death of Dr. Jee PonG Moar, graduate of the university and former resident here, which occurred in February in Tientsin, China, has been received by Ben F. Sargent of 1^22 Walnut street. Dr. Jee's death occurred within a week of that of his only son, and they were buried side by side. Mrs. Jee and her five daughters will continue to live in Tientsin. Dr. Jee graduated from the university here in the year 1906. He was the eldest son of the Rev. Jee Gam, one of the ordained Congregational ministers of California, who was for 30 years an interpreter for the Oakland courts, and was a teacher in the San Francisco Chinese night school and pastor of the Chinese church of that city. Dr. Jee Pond Moar was named for Dr. William Pond, of San Francisco, one of the founders of the Pacific School of Religion, and for Dr. Moar, a professor in the school. Dr. Jee was a member of the Chinese Male Quartet in Berkeley and was connected with the work of the North Congregational church. His two brothers and sister hold positions of honor in China. Dr. Jee Was a member of the Rotary Club in Tientsin, and also of the Masonic and Scottish Rite bodies as well as many other organizations. Funeral services were held in Wesley church in that city and were largely attended by Chinese and foreign friends. A large detachment of the Chinese police and the Chinese band were in the funeral procession. Attesting the esteem in which Dr. Jee was held there was a wealth of floral offerings, more than 125 wreaths being banked in the church where the services were held. A |
