CRAO is recognized as an ocular emergency however there are no known effective therapies at present. There is accumulating Level III evidence that timely thrombolysis improves visual outcomes. In the absence of any randomized clinical trial conclusions, the parameters as to when to administer thrombolytics remains a matter of some controversy. |
