It is clear that glaucoma (POAG) and anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION) are distinct clinical forms of optic nerve damage. POAG is a chronic, progressive disease, most often associated with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), resulting in excavation of an optic disc with baseline normal or enlarged physiologic cup. |
