Description T. Allan Pryor was born on December 5, 1937 in Compton, California. Dr Pryor earned his Bachelor's degree from Long Beach State College. Dr Pryor earned his M.S. degree in mathematics and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering (1972) from the University of Utah. Dr Pryor was an early member of the faculty Medical Biophysics and Computing. Dr Pryor wrote the first computer program to automatically interpret an electrocardiogram and along with Drs Homer Warner and Reed Gardner developed the HELP system, a knowledge-based computer program to facilitate clinical decision making. Dr Pryor retired in 2001 as Professor of Medical Informatics and Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Intermountain Health Care. In 2006, Dr Pryor was awarded the Legacy of Life Scientific Award from the Deseret Foundation at the LDS Hospital. Dr Pryor died in 2009.
