Egleston, Chief of the Forestry Division, Department of Agriculture, dated the IOth" instant^ wherein he refers to information of recent date from V/m. Mc Dowel 1, Esq., Chair-man of the Board of County Commissioners,. Glenwood Springs, Garfield County, Colorado, relative to the destruction of timber and grass in said County from fires se"t by the Ute Indians who were off their reservation- As the matter seems more especially within the province of your office, I refer the enclosure for such action as you may deem requisite.
