As a resxilt of the recent uprising of renegade Ute and Piute Indians in dan Juan County, Utah, I have boon called upon by the duly constituted authorities of that county to make recommendations to the Federal Government looking to a solution of the problem. - * -• Primarily, it should be understood that these tribes are without a domain. By nature they are indole and improvident, producing little or nothing for their sustenance. Consequently they live largely tkreugh men cancy and thievery.
