Show AFRC90-PAPER #213 California. At Simpson, increases in production capacity were desired. The speed at which operators were able to adequately dry the paper coating acted as a bottleneck to the whole production process. Three 15 foot long 2 million Btu/hr Impact frames were installed, each comprised of 60 Pyromat burners in two rows. These dryers have now been running nearly continuously for over two years and have resulted in a 15 percent increase in productivity and a measurable im provement in paper quality. This and other successful installations of the Spectrum IR system have led to additional sales by Impact throughout the world. To date, over 8,000 Pyromat burners have been sold for these systems. SUMMARY The application of porous radiant burners to frred process heaters, immersion tube heaters, frretube boilers, industrial air heaters, incinerators, and direct-frred paper dryers 18 provides equipment operators with a wide range of process benefits. While sim ultaneously generating significantly reduced pollutant emlsslons compared to other low-NOx technologies, Alzeta's Pyrocore and Pyromat radiant burners have delivered these benefits to both new equipment and retrofit applications alike. New Equipment Benefits: • high efficiency operation, • heat flux uniformity, • radiant responsiveness, • reduced coking, • reduced combustion noise, • simplicity of operation, and • fuel flexibility. Additional Retrofit Benefits: • increased system capacity, • increased system thermal efficiency, • elevated process operating temperatures, and • reduced auxillary power requirements. |
