This study directs itself to the regressive migration phenomenon in the Middle Eastern culture of Iran. Social scientists have long ignored the return to the rural centers and its causes: disillusionment and maladjustment of the migrants. These social scientists are more involved in describing the migrants' adjustments to the urban environment. Recently, two articles have been published in the United States which illustrate that the return to the country and small towns has become a considerable factor in population distribution. This year (1975) in U.S. News and World Report there was an article entitled "Why the Trend Back to Small Towns?", that looked at six states across the United States: Kentucky, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, New York and Idaho. |
