Show 1 6, 1916, and September's??, 1924; said sum to be placed 2 on the books of the Trc^ sray Department to the credit of 3 the Confederated Bands of Ute Indians in the proportions 4 specified by the Act of June 15, 1880 ( 21 Stat. L. 199), 5 to bear interest at 4 per centum per annum and from the 6 date of the passage of this Act, but without prejudice to 7 the claim of said Indians for 4 per centum interest on said 8 sum from the dates of said Executive orders, respectively. 9 SEC. 2. The Secretary of the Treasury is hereby 10 authorized to pay, out of said appropriation when made, 11 such fees and expenses as the Secretary of the Interior may 12 deem reasonable, on a quantum meruit basis, for services 13 rendered by attorneys or agents having approved or hereto- 14 fore approved contracts with said Indians, or approved 15 assignments thereof, not to exceed, however, a total of 10 16 per centum of the amount appropriated hereunder, as 17 follows: 18 ( 1) A contract with Southern Ute Band and the Ute 19 Mountain Band approved July 7, 1928, a partial assign- 20 ment of which was approved on May 28, 1929. 21 ( 2) A contract with the Uintah and White River 22 Bands, approved on October 8, 1932, an assignment of 23 which was approved on February 13, 1935. |
