Photographs of and document for two shawl covers owned by Mrs. E. T. (Rhoda Richards) Stevenson of Salt Lake City, Utah. They came with the shawls on items 457 and 458; one probably made in France and belonged to owner's husband's mother's cousin, Mary LeGresle Pill, who came from the Isle of Jersey. She brought it with her when she came to Utah in 1855. The other belonged to owner's mother, Mary Julia Johnson Richards (born 1841), who came to Utah from Illinois in 1861. She sent to England for it from Utah, and it was brought over by the wife of Joseph F. Smith |
