Description |
Judge J. T. McConnell came to the Uinta Basin in 1887 and was the first was mentioned in the Vernal Express. He was part owner in the Fort Duchesne tunnel of the Dyer Mine. He was also the US Commissioner for the Ute tribe and the area in legal matters that needed a judgement. He was a member of the I.O.O.F, Vernal Lodge No.24. He earned his law degree and practiced law in Vernal. By 1920 he moved to Salt Lake City, continuing his law practice and retired in 1940. He died July 1947 and is buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. |
