Description With the help of Lige Campbell, Clarence Showalter built this two story section, Vernacular/Victorian home in 1917. It is constructed of logs with wood siding. When Showalter and his wife, Alice Barney, first came to Vernal, he worked in ranching and livestock businnesses. He late opened a shoe repair and harness shop, was a Bank of Vernal director, founded the Vernal Orpheus Comapny and established Showalter Motor Company in 1934. Edwin J. and Virginia Winder purchased the home from the Showalter estate in 1955 for $6,000. Winder owned and operated Vernal Office Supply on South Vernal Avenue.
