Show DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR UNITED STATES INDIAN SERVICE To the Indian Commissioner This is to certify that at a Council of the Utes held at Ignacio, this 15th day of December, 1915, it was unanimously decided to ask for authority for a delegation of two of our number to go to Washington!, with an interpreter and the superintendent of the Southern Ute Agency, to discuss with you and other officials, matters which concern out welfare and prosperity, especially the matter of the expenditure of our trust funds now to the credit of ourselves and our minor children, and the Ute Judgment Fund still in the treasury; the matter ef schools, a hospital for our sick, rations as called for by treaty obligations, and other important matters. Last year a delegation visited you and we were glad, but that delegation consisted of members of one band only, Buckskin Charley's band. We want now to have members of Severo's band to have an equal opportunity to see and talk with the officials at Washington. It is only by this means that a perfect understanding ean be had. It was the unanimous desire of those present at the coracil,- almost the entire male population of the Southern utea,- that the expenses of this delegation be paid from our tribal fM& s^,, l;> * f, ^ ' AP: AX£^ 0^' |
