Description In 1865, Sir G.B. Airy, a British astronomer with impeccable observational skills, described the first classic account of the 'scintillating scotoma' experienced during a migraine. Like many other observers (including the late Dr. Simmons Lessell), Airy was unable to say with certainty whether both eyes were affected. He later stated that he 'entertain[ed] no doubt that the seat of the disease is the brain.'[1-3] We present an illustration of migrainous visual aura with transient homonymous hemianopia captured on Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) testing in a patient aware only of visual symptoms in one eye at the time of HVF.
