Salt Lake Twenty-ninth Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints [3]

Address: 1102 West, 400 North (previously 300 N), Salt Lake City. Building erected in 1902-05 and expanded in 1925-27, it originally had some lovely stained-glass windows, now gone since 1960 due to renovations. Vacated by the Church in 1977 and sold in 1979, it was used as office and meeting space for several decades, including as a "social, education, and recreation center for refugees" between 1986 and 2007. Several religious groups used it for Sunday worship during this period, including a Cambodian Buddhist congregation that later built a temple in West Valley City. Now owned by Salt Lake City, the building has been vacant and neglected in recent years, but is currently targeted for renovation as a community center and food pantry.
