Description |
The innermost of the three layers of the meninges, the pia mater, consists of a delicate, flat sheet of cells that is reflected from the surface of the brain to form the outer coating of the meningeal vessels in the subarachnoid space. The pia mater of the brain is generally thinner than that of the spinal cord. In most areas, it is connected with the arachnoid by fine trabeculae lined by mesothelial cells. |
