The cost of ozone is twice that of CIO so the IHI process has inherently higher cost for chemicals than the Moretana calcium process, as both processes scrub with limestone slurries. Further, the Moretana calcium process has been used in two prototype units (10 to 40 megawatts), while the IHI process has been used in one small prototype unit (9 megawatts). 2.5.2 Cost There is no definitive cost information available on wet NOx scrubbers in commercial applications, but cost estimates result in much higher costs than for Thermal DeNOx or SCR ($200 to $400/kw and over $1.00 per million (8) BTU).
