Show List of North American Languages Here is a complete list of the North American languages. If the language is extinct, it is marked "*". The state or provence where the language is or was spoken is also given. Some of the languages fit into families such as Algonquin (number 1.), Iroquoian (number 5.), Muskogean (number 8), and so on. Other languages have no close relatives, and do not fit into a family tre, such as Yurok (number 2.), Wiyot (number 3.), Natchez (number 7.), and so on. Actually, some of these languages have very distant relatives, e.g. Yurok and Wiyot have been shown to be very distantly related to Algonquian. But there are still a good many languages which have not been shown to be related to any other languages. You probably won't want to read this, but rather will want to use it as a reference. 1.
