My dear Mr, Secretary: Acting upon newspaper reports of serious trouble between whites and Indians at Blanding, Utah, a telegram was sent to Superintendent iicKean of the Consolidated Ute Agency, Ignacio, Colorado, as follows: " Newspaper reports indicate serious trouble between whites and Indians Blanding, Investigate, assist in quelling disturbance. Wire information." To which Superintendent McICean replied as follows: " Your wire today am starting for Blanding tonight reported one Indian killed two wounded overland roads bad but I will get there will wire developments later will stop present trouble arrival Blanding."
