Description: Shalako Mana (Shalako Maiden) has a white face mask with radiating red, blue, and yellow lines on chin: red cheek cross hachures; rectangular black eyes; stepped feathered tabulita. She is dressed in a painted black woman's dress with white shawl over her shoulders. Cotton twine around the neck. Commercially manufactured paint, probably lathe turned. Crow mother appears in the Bean Dance and some Hopi's consider her the mother of all Kachinas. Both male and female figures; participate in the rare Shalako ceremony. The last dance was at Shungopovi in 1936.. Height 31.5, Width 25.8, Length 7.8 Centimeters |
