A 77-year-old man presented to our clinic complaining of right eye visual loss associated with severe forehead headache. Giant cell arteritis was suspected, whereupon temporal artery biopsy was done and IV methyprednisolone was given until the biopsy result has been received. When treated with steroids the patient reported pain relief, but when it was discontinued - due to negative biopsy result - this effect vanished |
