Identify the secretory, contractile (myoepithelial cell), and connective tissue elements of this tissue section. Myoepithelial cells are special contractile cells found within the basal lamina of glands. Their contractions aid in expulsion of secreted products. Note that these secretory cells have cytoplasmic blebs that bulge into the lumen of these glands. UCLA Histology Collection. |
