Engineering design poses unique problems because there are usually many parameters which have to be fixed at some optimum value in order to maximize the performance of the particular object which is being designed. With the use of the computer, many different designs can be rapidly tested in order to determine what bearing each parameter has on the outcome of the performance of the system; This project deals with the problem of steam power plant based on the Rankine power designing a cycle. The computer program, "POWER", the Hewlett-Packard 9816 which has been developed on for this project, will present the user with a with a block diagram of a typical power plant reheat cycle and a regenerative cycle, and display the power output and the cycle for those initial the thermal parameters. knob, the user can change the values of efficiency. By rotating of the the temperature; and pressure in the boiler, the pressure in the feedwater heater, the pressure leaving the condenser, and the efficiencies of both turbines and pumps. The computer will then solve the thermodynamics problem that has been generated by changing the initial parameters. The program will calculate the enthalpies at each point in the system, print an approximate T-s diagram of the system, and generate the block diagram again with the new parameters and the new values of power output and thermal efficiency. The program is designed to work in SI and English units, and is written in a user-friendly, interactive BASIC programming language. |
