Description Shaken-impact baby syndrome (SIBS) is characterized by subdural hematoma (SDH), occult bone fractures and retinal hemorrhages. Diffusion-weighted MR imaging (DWI-MRI) has recently proven useful in the diagnosis of acute cerebral ischemia and is more sensitive than conventional MRI to detect diffuse axonal injury from head trauma. In this study we evaluated the role of DWI-MRI in the diagnosis and management of children with suspected SIBS.
