It brought in , , •• I p ,„ ,.-ii «,,0r +he f-aari srid we were busy greeting and rememoer-churchmembers from all ovei une nexa aim wa u^o MU,3J <-> » ing old friends. Monday morning Emory went to a village several miles east of the city with a group of Chinese and foreigners, to the dedication of a chapel the little group of churchmembers there have built by themselves. It was too far for me to walk, so I spent the morning visiting with friends - my hostess, Mrs. fioulding, Mrs. ihitaker who goes home en furlough soon, and some Chinese women/ Two of these I asked to go with mo to the Big Temple to buy some toys for the baby and to get seme embroidery thread for Glory. The fourth month fair was on, and the streets were full of people, but not crowded as they will be later. It was so satisfying to go along the streets I used to know so well, and down the narrow alleys for a short-cut to the Big iempxe. The little stores were just as attractive, and the displays just as interest-in- as of old. We found what we wanted end I got back to the compound lust in°time for Paster Wang's feast. It Is becoming the custom now in church circles for men and women to eat together. Wo found our places and had such a very pleasant hour. Miss Long who is principal of the girls' school in Lintsing always has a May Cay program every year. It came off Saturday morning this year, of the day on which we arrived, so we had missed, cut on the girls' school Program. Miss Long arranged for us to see part of it, b> repeating the winding of the Maypole and some of the other numbers. It was a pleasure to watch the girls and see how their teachers had trained them and the precision with which they carried out some of the difficult figures. The girls' school teachers invited Miss Wyekoff, Miss Nelson and myself to a meal with them that evening, and we had another treat in our visit with these lovely girls. An evening of games and visiting among ourselves, some hours of good, sound sleep, and we were uP and off for Techow. We took a last look at tha crowd of friends who had gathered to see us off, at the compound that has becomo so lovely with its growth of trees and vines and flowers, and thanked God for the years that we had spent there, and for cur two girls and the friends looking for us at Techow. |
