Show A photograph of a group of students and teachers at the Salt Lake Collegiate Institute. All but two of the group is standing on the entrance stairwell to a brick building with a cornerstone date of "1894." The two who are not standing are leaning against the stairwell cement embankment. Along the walk leading to and from the stairwell are wire mesh fences. The women are wearing dark and light colored blouses, skirts, dresses and dark shoes. The men wear dark and light colored shirts, suit coats, suit pants, and dark colored shoes |

There two copies of this photograph. The first photograph (000273) is in fair condition. It has been glued to a cream colored mat backing. The mat has been torn away along the edges of the photograph. A black mark can be seen at the left near the middle of the photograph. There are no other marks on the front or back of this photograph. The second photograph (000273c2) is in poor condition. The actual photograph has faded making it difficult to see the people and objects in the photograph. The same black blemishing mark appears on this photo as in the first one. Written along the bottom of the photograph in black ink is, "Collegiate Institute Pupils 1897." Written on the bottom of the mat border is, "Teachers [:] "Mr. R. [Robert] J. Caskey, Princ, Miss A. F. Hulburd (Mrs. McCuish?), Miss M. L. Morgan, Miss M. Harrold, Irwin McNiece Photographer." On back is a listing of the student body of the Salt Lake Collegiate Institute of 1897.
