Description The Hampton-Gobe house at an early date. The log house was used to service to travelers prior to the construction of the stone house on the right, west of the large stone house. The barn at the right was used for state coaches and horses. Collinston was originally called Hampton or Hampton Ford for Ben Hampton who run a toll ferry across the Bear River. Hampton was later named Collinston in honor of Collins Fulmer, a favorite conductor on the Utah Northern Railroad.
