Show sump tank are then drawn through a packed bed tower to remove acid gases with water flowing countercurrently. The packed tower is designed to remove 99.5% of incoming acid gases thus ensuring that a concentrated acid stream is drawn out of the system for neutralization purposes. The particulates of 10 micron and above are also removed in this tower. The steam from the boiler is used to drive a scrubber/ejector system located on another trailer. The steam ejector scrubber acts not only as the system prime mover, but also as the primary pollution control device. The ejector scrubber consumes 0.15 lb. of 50 PSIG steam per lb. of off gas. The quenched particulate laden gases are subsequently drawn through the ejector nozzle. The turbulence created by the unique nozzle and mixing tube arrangement causes efficient particulate capture into the submicron range. The system is capable of removing 99% of particulates, 0.5 micron and above. The ejector scrubber ensures 99% of acid gas removal. The agglomerated particulate and acidified water are subsequently removed by a horizontal gas/water separator with integral demister. The cleaned gases pass to the atmosphere through a 40 foot stack. The particulate laden water that is removed in the separator is filtered to remove the solids subsequently recycled to the steam ejector scrubber. The solids are then collected, tested for potential contaminates, and landfilled. The neutralization trailer consists of lime/limestone storage, lime/limestone feeding assembly, preneutralizer, neutralizer, and a salt solution concentrator. Lime/ground limestone and dilute acid solution is mixed in an eductor and neutralization is completed in a separate tank. The dilute salt solution is then concentrated in a concentrator using 250 PSIG saturated steam. The concentrated salt solution is collected in 55 gallon drums or in bulk at 40% solution. A chemical laboratory is provided with each system. The laboratory is primarily used to provide chemical and heating value analysis of the waste material to be incinerated. Samples of the waste streams are also |
