Description This project focused on reviewing and changing the verbiage of current policies owned by the University of Utah Health to include the scope and responsibilities of licensed practical nurses. This was done in an effort to help remedy the need for health care assistants and relieve the burden placed on registered nurses. There were alternative solutions considered when deciding on a new model of care, but ultimately integrating LPNs back to the University of Utah Health was the most appropriate decision for the organization. Many different teams contributed to the outcomes of this project. These teams include; education, informatics, quality and pharmacy. Moving forward the team will need to focus on recruitment strategies and onboarding. It is the hope that this project will result in adequate staffing to serve the patients who receive care with the University of Utah Health.
