Title Rubber from the Uinta Basin of Utah
Date 1942
Description The title of this article is rather misleading as there will be little discussion of rubber in the subject matter. The title was used chiefly to stimulate interest and perhaps arouse some thought and start some arguments. If that is done the desired object has been attained. If not, nothing has been lost except the space in the magazine. The author recently was asked to make a preliminary study of some of the bituminous sands of Utah, especially those outcropping near Vernal in the northeast corner of the state. The primary object was to determine whether there may be oil re- serves of appreciable volume and value. In making this study the observations were extended to cover the entire Uinta basin in a rather sketchy manner and this article will try to give some of the points noted and questions raised.
