Quinta etas mundi (fifth age of the world). Architecture and floor plan for a castle or church. Author: Hartmann Schedel (1440-1514). Illustrators: Michael Wolgemut (German, 1434-1519) and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff (German, ca. 1460-1494). An illustration from the famous 15th century illustrated book which tells the history of the world, from the "creation" to 1493, with a final section on the "Last Days of the World". It was illustrated with more than 1,000 woodcuts designed by German artists Michael Wolgemut and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff. |
