Description Variability exists among physicians regarding the urgency of stroke workup following embolic retinal artery occlusion (RAO). Neither the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) nor the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has published recommendations regarding the initiation of emergent stroke evaluation for retinal artery occlusions. We surveyed both ophthalmologists and neurologists to compare their workups for embolic RAOs.
