Description The school was located at 126 East 5300 South. The original structure was built in 1911 as Hillcrest School and they had first through eighth grades. In 1913 they changed to seventh through twelfth grades. The school was renamed Murray High and Junior High from 1916 to 1954. It was renamed Hillcrest Junior High in the 1960-1961 school year. Many rennovations have been made over the years. Hillcrest Junior High Colors are royal blue and white and their Mascot is a Gladiator. Information obtained from the Centennial History of the Murray City School District 1906 - 2006 by Korral K. Broschinsky. (Note: Ground was broken for a new Hillcrest Junior High School in June 2013. The state-of-the art new school opened for the 2015-2016 school year, around the corner off of 5300 South.)
