Description We report a 56 year white woman with POEMS syndrome referred for a one year history of blurred vision and bilateral optic nerve swelling of unknown etiology. Numbness and tingling of the hands and feet were present for 12 years. Three years prior multiple cutaneous hemangiomas were removed. Evaluation for splenomegaly two years prior failed to demonstrate an abnormality.
