Acknowledgments The Grand Beehive Exhibition and Catalog came about with the generous asssistance of Utah Arts Council Mervyn's Stores Salt Lake Art Center Renwick Gallery of the National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institution National Endowment for the Arts Beehives are everywhere in Utah. But familiarity breeds transparency, and today the beehives rarely are noticed. Since this project began many people have noticed beehives, have searched them out, and have advised us about them. Others have let us borrow and photograph their beehives. And still others have helped us catalog, display, and publish our findings. To all these people who have joined us in the cult of the beehive, our gratitude is extended.
