Description |
Arch Allen's threshing maching at work with crew - old cars in foreground. It was taken in the Maeser area. Grain was cut with a binder that tied it in bundles. Then put in shocks in the field. Then it was hauled in a wagon and stacked in round stacks to wait for the threshing machine, Being in round stacks as such, the grain wouldn't get wet and spoil as the water would run off. A crew of men would come and it was threshed from the stacks. Feeding the threshing crew was quite a project too. Most of the time the lady of the house would serve breakfast and dinner for 13 to 20 hungry men. Mr. Allen would take his tresher all over the valley for threshing. |
