Description Spontaneous direct carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF) in young patients should prompt consideration for underlying connective tissue disease namely: Ehlers Danlos syndrome (EDS), peudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), Marfan Syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome and osteogenesis imperfecta. EDS is most common and management is complex and associated with significant short and long term morbidity.
