Show -6- is agricultural or grazing land. Your certificate should be attached to the schedules, to the effect that each allottee is entitled to the land allotted him and (in the case of the Uintahs) that the adult allottees fully consented to accept the same and that the parents or guardians, respectively, consented to take allotments for the minor children under their care. As it may not be possible to complete the allotments within the amount allowed, your field notes of the work as it progresses should be full enough and kept in such manner as to enable this office, or some person, to prepare proper schedules therefrom. As soon as practicable you will report what further surveys, if any, are needed to complete the allotments, furnishing a sketch or diagram thereof. You will do such re-tracing of lines and establish such monuments as may be found requisite, employing a surveyor and the neces- _ sary assistants, who should be Indians in all cases where practicable. For such persons the Disbursing Officer of the Commission will furnish the proper vouchers and report the employes upon a list of Irregular Employes, You will also employ an Interpreter or Interpreters when necessary and report them upon your list of Irregular Employes. You will observe that the entire expense under the Act is limited to $5,000, and when this amount is expended the work will have to stop. It will therefore be necessary for you to exercise the strictest economy consistent with the faithful discharge of your important duties. |
