Show of Utah's eight river districts - the fund has played a key role in turning those projects from dreams to conservation realities. Most of the projects were too small to interest the Bureau of Reclamation but too large for small private companies to finance independently. Benefits have accrued to each of Utah's 29 counties. Water has been developed to bring 36,716 acres of new land under cultivation and supplemental water has been provided to increase the yield of 727,385 acres. Companies distributing culinary water have not been ignored by the fund. Improvements were made to 36 culinary systems which received Board approval for considerable monetary assistance from the Revolving Fund. Each project is investigated thoroughly before a decision is made by the Board as to its eligibility for the program. The member from the district of origin must acknowledge an application before it is considered by the entire Board. Final decisions are based on careful examination of the proposed project by the staff of the Division of Water Resources and on personal knowledge of Board members. |
