Description |
Horses supplied most of the horsepower needed by the gilsonite industry in the early years. The single horse to the left is ready to hoist gilsonite bags from the depths of the mine to the surface. The bags of gilsonite are loaded to the wagon on the right hitched to a team of horses.Tom Taylor is seated on the wagon and waits for a full load before delivering the bags to the bottom of the hill where it will be loaded onto the train car. |
