Description History: A 52-year-old woman who presented with proptosis of the left eye for approximately one year without discomfort and no visual loss. Anatomy: Orbit. Clinical: No discomfort or visual loss; 5 mm right proptosis. Disease Diagnosis: Epidermal cyst. Pathology: Chronic inflammatory appearance of the epidermal cyst. A higher magnification of the chronic inflammatory cells associated with the epidermal cyst. Presenting Symptom: Proptosis of the left eye. Neuroimaging: Ultrasound with the beam coming from left to right showing the posterior globe and a somewhat irregular lesion of a rather dense, but irregular consistency temporal to the globe. CT scan with a rounded lesion posterior to the right globe with a defect in the posterior lateral wall of the orbit. posterior coronal orbital CT scan showing the defect in the posterior portion of the right orbit. Treatment: Surgical removal of cyst.
