Scans of several documents, speeches, and articles about public welfare in the United States, used as background material for discussion at the conference on public welfare hosted by New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller at Arden House, Harriman, New York, in November of 1967. The articles were: "Welfare, Social Work, and Business Transition," by Leland Hazard, consultant for Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company; "The Future Course of Public Welfare," by Eveline M. Burns of the Columbia University School of Social Work; and "The Crises in Welfare: the view from New York," by Daniel P. Moynihan, Director of the Joint Center for Urban Studies, MIT and Harvard. Authors of other articles include: Barbara Flower; Helen O. Nicol; Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey; Walter B. Wriston; the Committee for Economic Development; Gerald L. Phillippe; and others.
