Junior Alyssa Abbott competed for the first time this season in the one-mile run. After coming into the race as the sixth-seed, Abbott finished with a new personal best of 4:55.08 for first place. Her time ranks third on Utah's all-time list. Freshman Amanda Mergaert finished fifth overall in the race with a time of 5:06.54, which is a new personal best. Sophomore Lucy Yates lived up to her top seeded position in the 800m run to finish first overall with a time of 2:11.32. In the 400m dash, the Utes had four top-ten finishes. Freshman Ashley Mosley led the group with a third place finish and a time of 57.87 ahead of teammate Alyssa Johnson, a freshman, who finished in fourth place with a time of 57.90. Senior Chelsey Kaplar came in seventh overall with a time of 58.55. Freshman Lauryn McKay set a new personal best in the event with a time of 58.60 to earn eighth place overall in the race. Freshmen Angela Kaplar and Delaney Fox set new personal bests in the 60m hurdles on Saturday. Kaplar crossed the line in 8.85 for fifth place overall, which also ranks fifth on Utah's all-time best indoor performances. Fox earned seventh place in the race with a time of 9.09 to surpass her previous personal best of 9.70. Rounding out some of Utah's best performances of the day on the track were the 4x400m relay teams. The `A' team comprised of Johnson, C. Kaplar, Whitney Wellington, and Mosley, took second place in the event with a combined time of 3:51.93. The `B' team comprised of McKay, Brianna LeRoy, Stepanie Muelleck, and Nikki Dotter, finished in seventh place overall with a time of 4:02.29. Sophomore Langley Iverson competed in the high jump for second-place overall after clearing a height of 5-6. Freshman Nikkie Rudder set new personal bests in both the shot put and the weight throw. Rudder had a toss of 45-10.5 in the shot put to earn second place overall. Her mark ranks fifth on Utah's all-time indoor list. In the weight throw, Rudder placed ninth overall with a toss of 48-8.75. Senior Sarah Grimm earned fourth place overall in the weight throw after a 55-2.25 effort. |
