Utah Power & Light Company was incorporated in 1912, a subsidiary of General Electric's holding company, EBASCO (the Electric Bond and Share Corporation). In November 1912, UP&L acquired Telluride Power Company with its five power plants that served southeastern Idaho, western Colorado, and northern Utah. UP&L acquired over a hundred more small companies before 1935, when it became an independent company. In 1989, UP&L became a subsidiary of PacifiCorp. In 2006, PacifiCorp was acquired by MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, and began operating as Rocky Mountain Power in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. |
