Henry Kasai lived with his uncle in Idaho from 1907 to 1909. Hiroshi Kasai managed farms in Idaho, helped Kinji Ushijima/George Shima-known as "The Potato King" make the Idaho potato famous. Methods he learned during those years for reclaiming land were transferred to Japan in post WW II years when Hiroshi Kasai went to Japan to help farmers make better use of their farming lands. HHK was a devoted uncle, a dignified, kind, soft-spoken man. He married a widow, Iyo Murakami and adopted her 2 boys, Mitsugi and Seiko. They all lived in SLC after he retired from farming. |
