Description University of Utah Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Program and Home Care Service have jointly performed the first outpatient bone marrow stem cell transplant for a 46-year-old Boise, Idaho, woman with advanced breast cancer. Besides the benefit for the patient of being treated out of the hospital, the cost of the procedure may be cut in half by providing this treatment at home instead of in the hospital.
