The seminiferous tubules open into the tubuli recti (straight tubules) which are lined with a single layer of tall columnar Sertoli cells see 0314. The tubuli recti pass into a system of irregular, anastamosing, epithelial lined spaces, the rete testis located in the pink-stained collagen of the mediastinum see image 0314.
