Description Transcript (32 pages) of interview by Matt Driscoll with Paul Tusting on March 2, 2010
Abstract Paul Tusting was born in Miami and grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He originally became interested in the outdoors and in climbing at a private school which had an Outward-Bound type program. He moved to Salt Lake in 1999, hoping to work for Black Diamond. He worked for HR on various tech and design projects, but the majority his time was on the C4s and C3s. Tusting talks at length on the history of Black Diamond and Chouinard Equipment. Tusting has done a number of first ascents and some guidebook writing. He says he has a moral dilemma about writing guidebooks because increased traffic hurts the rock. Interview is part of the Outdoor Recreation Oral History Project. Interviewer: Matt Driscoll
