"Judge John A. Rokich 03/08/26 ~ 03/12/06 Judge, Lawyer, Hog Farmer, and Horseman, John A. Rokich died March 12, 2006 in Carmel, California surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Paul Rukavina (Rokich) and Anna Frkovich, Yugoslavian immigrants, in the AS&R Garfield Camp (now KCC Smelter), the eldest of seven brothers, and one sister. The family moved to Magna, Utah, when John was in High School. He attended Cyprus High (Student Body President). He spent 3 years at the Utah State University, served in the Army, 1st World War and received a Law Degree from the University of Utah. He married Jeannine Crow October 11, 1950. John practiced law in Magna for 31 years. He was Executive Secretary of the Magna Community Council for 16 years, attorney and Clerk of the Magna Water and Sewer District for 25 years and handled many roofing cases for the Granite School District. He was instrumental in many community improvements, such as the sewer district, swimming pool, and ice skating rink. He was inducted into the Cyprus High School Hall of Fame. John was a founder of the Valley West Hospital (now Pioneer Hospital) , Bank of Commerce (now Zion's Bank) in Magna, North Davis Bank (now Wells Fargo) in Layton, Utah, and faithfully served the Community of Magna. John was appointed a Judge of the Third Judicial District in 1984, and served Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele Counties.
