Wallace Bennett, a longtime beloved faculty member and avid supporter of the College of Law, received his B.A., M.S., and J.D. degrees from the University of Utah. He was editor-in-chief of the Utah Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He also earned LL.M. degrees from Harvard University and New York University. He joined the Utah faculty in 1953 and served as associate dean from 1960 to 1976. After his retirement in 1986, he offered special seminars until 1997. Wally is credited with drafting the Utah Uniform Securities Act and the Utah Uniform Consumer Credit Code, the first of such laws to be enacted in the United States. He was also the producer, on a very limited budget, of two live stage performances that played in the College's moot courtroom. Wally, as he was universally known, was often described as a "students' professor," who took a keen interest in the careers of his former students |
